All round creative junkie

The big day, the dream wedding, the perfect dress, the venue, hen parties, stag parties, guest lists, invites, wedding breakfasts, drinks packages, music, photographer, flowers… the list could go on and on.

Whether you’re recently engaged or whether your wedding is looming, you should probably pull together your ideas as soon as possible. Magazines, pinterest, likes and dislikes, will all help you decided on your perfect wedding. You should also visit a wedding fair. The UK Wedding Show at the Newcastle Arena on January 16-17 will be a great place to fill your head full of inspiration, contacts, maybe even change your opinion on some of your original wedding ideas. There will be wedding suppliers, planners, florists, musicians, advisers, catwalk shows and more to help you plan your wedding. Nichola English, the Wardrobe Provocateur, will be there giving you the confidence to both look and feel good when you say I Do.

I’ll also be there running creative DIY wedding workshops. Weddings are changing and I know first hand how expensive weddings can be. I married my husband 12 years ago and before upcycling was a word, I turned a scaffold board into candle centrepieces, used gold fabric to clad my glass vases and spray painted candlesticks.

Last year I worked with a friend create an outdoor wedding on budget of just £300. We used pringles tubes, jam jars, fabric, rope and tree branches to come up with the perfect coastal theme for the bride and groom. I’ll be running two short workshops each day over the weekend to show how you can put your own stamp on your wedding and creating a unique look can save a huge pot of cash. I’ll be demonstrating how to do this and you can get hands on to start your wedding ball rolling.
