To mis-quote a famous campaign, ‘orange is for life not just for Halloween’.
At this time of the year my social media timelines are full of halloween costumes, pumpkins, creative party ideas and everything is either (fake) blood stained or orange. Last year I posted about our pumpkin efforts, not the best, but we had fun doing them (Upcycled pumpkins and one zombie child). This year I thought I’d try a different angle.
Orange interiors are bang on trend for autumn and all year round, especially if teamed with the even more on trend grey that we see everywhere. I’ve pulled together some of my favourite interior inspirations from my pinterest board to show you how to use orange in your home and not look like a halloween party.
Orange accents in the kitchen add a lovely pop of colour to freshen up a plain kitchen.
A warm orange throw and an upcycled painted table can change a bedroom really easily.
A really quick way to change a colour scheme in any room is to add accent cushions in different patterns and textures.
Bathrooms don’t escape either, I’m in the process of planning my new bathroom and I’m trying to persuade my hubby that we NEED these orange taps!
If you wanted to stay away from the typical blues and greens for a boys bedroom, try an orange accent wall. Or how about upcycling an old filing cabinet or locker and spray painting it orange for perfect the industrial theme.
Last but not least I’m also toying with the idea of this orange carpet for my hallway, it would make an amazing statement for me. As I work from home it would be a great talking point for clients visiting. Or if I’m not that brave I might just settle for a few orange accents instead.
So, my weekend fix tip this week is to go and treat yourselves to some great orange accessories. There will be so many in the shops at the moment as people as going even more halloween-tastic every year. So embrace the autumn season and go orange.
